THE Monks Head, Snodland, held a craft and gift stall in its conservatory on November 24 to raise funds forMacmillan Can- cer Support. Run by Eileen Barber and


Sharon Vero, the event raised £123.67 – “an amazing amount in just a few hours”. Eileen thanked the members


of the public who donated cash and purchased goods and the publicans, Derek and Becky, for the use of the premises. She said: “Most families have


been touched by cancer in one form or another, including my- self. I lostmy wonderful husband and parents to this evil disease.”


Road funder


KENT is to receive £13mtomake improvements to the roads. The county will get Depart-


ment of Transport a slice of £66m set aside in the recent au- tumn budget. Much of the cash will be spent


onmaking cycling safe, running repairs and fixing the problemof potholes.

Couple’s House of Horrors raises cash for cancer fund


FOR the fourth year running, visi- tors have been welcomed to the Halloween House of Horrors in Saltings Road, Snodland. Andy Damms and Helen Clark,


devote all their spare time prepar- ing for Halloween every year, to raise money for Cancer Re- search. They are pictured outside their house. On entering, visitors are asked


to make a donation before they are introduced to the most weird and wonderful creatures you can imagine, including a new enor- mous butler. On the second night, hot and


cold drinks, refreshments and a raffle are available. Landscape gardener Andy


spent £1,500 on props and has already started designing the pro- gramme for next year. So far he has raisedmore than £1,300. Children in Snodland had a

mas competition called “Guess what's in the Pressie”. Children and adults pay £1 to guess what present is inside a wrapper, with the winner receiving the present. All proceeds will go to Kent MS Therapy Centre.
