Rocky breaks record to raise cash for T-Jay
STRONGMAN Rocky Troiani pulled an 18.5 tonne coach 20 metres in 29 seconds to break a world record. But afterwards, he said it had
“hurt a bit” and he would have to be careful what he did in the fu- ture. Rocky carried out this remark-
able feat in front of a large crowd of people at Sortmill Road, Snodland, on November 25. It was another strong-arm
event for the man who is raising funds to help a 21-month baby, T-Jay, who is battling a case of GM1 Gangliosidosis. T-Jay's mother, Marie Hill, who
lives in Gillingham, has four chil- dren. She said: “Rocky, who also lives in Gillingham, ap- proached me and asked if he could help. I said yes and he did a 50-tonne truck pull and ran a boxing event. He has raised about £4,000.” Marie has been able to buy a
summerhouse and a hydro pool in the garden to stimulate T-Jay, a wheelchair and a chair called a PPod, which helps to support her son. Rocky (49), works as a car
dealer and has been doing his strong man training since 1985. InMarch, a neighbour told hima local lady needed some funding, so he contacted her. He has been fund-raising for
five years and hopes to do something for Demelza chil- dren’s hospice next year. He has seen the nurses in the children's hospital in Sittingbourne where T-Jay has had treatment and was very impressed with the way the staff worked. The strongman recently
opened the new Co-Op store in Snodland, where he also raised funds for T-Jay.
