In the early hours of Tuesday 24th october 2017 our dear son oliver passed away after a short and intense battle with Meningitis B. our family suffered the massive loss of a kind, loving and funny little 6 year old boy who meant so much to us and his little brother Charlie. He will be forever remembered in our lives and forever missed. “A life is measured in achievement, not in years alone” - Bruce McLaren. In the days and weeks that followed ollie’s death we were overwhelmed by the messages of support, compassion and empathy. we continue to receive these messages and we want people to know that your words of support are what is helping to carry us through our

Westhall Pumpkin & Apple Festival


weSTHALL launches its first Pumpkin and Apple Festival on Saturday 13th october, with plenty to entertain all the family, including those with green fingers! The Festival takes place at the Village Hall and playing field and includes a themed (pumpkin and apple!) horticultural show with special sections for children aged under 16 as well as for adults. A packed afternoon includes a display of apples from Clarke’s Lane orchard available to buy; apple pressing for making your own juice to take home; beeswax candle- making as well as learning more about the bees that are so essential to the pollination of our fruit and veg; themed face-painting for children (and adults!); competitions including the longest apple peel, guess the weight of the pumpkins and identifying different types of apple; apple bobbing; a themed treasure-trail around the playing field; a primer on fruit-tree pruning; fun with the “human fruit machine”; a chance to join a “scratch-choir” to learn a wassail song and perform it to an apple tree; last but not least
