WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND? I started working for NatWest in 1982 and then in 1988 I launched my career in financial planning.
WHAT DOES YOUR COMPANY DO? My company is an Associate Partner Practice of St James’s Place Wealth Management and offers personal protection planning, business protection planning, retirement planning, investment planning and inheritance tax planning.
HOW DID IT ALL START? For the past 30 years I had been a financial adviser and a manager and trainer of financial advisers. At the beginning of this year I took the decision to branch out on my own through St James’s Place Wealth Management.
WHAT’S YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR? My greatest achievement is being a business mentor for The Prince’s Trust for 18 years and mentoring lots of young people as they have started out in business.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST RISK YOU’VE EVER TAKEN – AND DID IT WORK OUT? My biggest risk was arguably taking the step away from being an employee to becoming self-employed. It has worked out very well and I’m really enjoying networking and everything that goes with it.

WHAT HAS SURPRISED YOU MOST IN YOUR JOB? In connection with networking I’ve been surprised by how friendly everyone is. People want you to succeed and are so helpful. Which business person or company do you most admire, and why? Ebay – they make it so simple to buy anything from them and if there are any issues they sort them.
WHAT EXCITING PROJECTS IS YOUR BUSINESS WORKING ON AT THE MOMENT? I’m developing seminars that I will be delivering locally to showcase what I, and St James’s Place Wealth Management, can offer.
WHAT MADE YOU JOIN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE CHAMBER? I joined because when I was networking so many people spoke positively about the Chamber and how it had helped their business. I’m attending networking events and as a result have attracted new clients.
