A teacher from Broad Chalk School said “the young leaders were really great helping the children understand the rules and to see the mentoring in action at a competition was a really good.”
Young Sports Leaders from Corsham
The Hockey Competition was held at Corsham School AstroTurf pitches which is a perfect facility for the event. The event was supported by Verity and Caroline from England Hockey and 2 senior coaches from Wiltshire Hockey. Also officiating was Ellie Spurrier one of the young umpires from the National Young Umpires Promising list, which is a training and mentoring scheme for 25 young people under 23 years old with umpiring potential. She was a great inspiration to the 7 Young leaders who volunteered to officiate at the event from years 10, 11 and 13 at Corsham School. Ellie was able to give them

Tag Rugby Level 3 Competition – 26 May 2016
It was a surprisingly cold grey cloudy May day but that didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm for the Tag Rugby competition. It was hosted by Royal Wootton Bassett RFC at their lovely ground which is ideal for such occasions.
Schools participating; Amesbury Archers, Ramsbury, Christchurch, Paxcroft, Holt, Sutton Veny, Winterslow, Downton, Broadchalke, Redland, Five Lanes, Minety, Colerne, Greenmeadow, Longleaze Shaw Ridge.
There were 9 Year 9 students from Royal Wootton Bassett Academy who took on the role as leaders for the competition and everyone was impressed with how they
handled themselves and they had a very mature approach dealing with a very competitive competition. Events like these cannot be run without the Young Leaders volunteering to help.
The result was very close. At the end of the competition the top 2 teams were level on points. So the result was decided on tries scored.
