Sport at Abbeyfield School Megan’s Kickboxing Success

Megan Lloyd has recently been competing in Germany representing Team England in Kick Boxing. Megan flew out with 50 members in the Team England squad.

After her weigh-in she went to the opening ceremony with each country participating having the national anthem playing and a flag bearer. Just like the Olympic Games.

Megan’s main fight of the competition was against a German kick boxer, with two rounds lasting 1.5 minutes. With contact anywhere above the waist,

each competitor has to wear, shin guards, boots, groin guard, breast guard, head guard and gloves. A hard fought round with lots of points scored, Megan just lost by a couple of points.

Megan said “it was a really good event and lots of experience gained as its mentally challenging as well as physically”.

Megan’s sports mentor said “I’m delighted for Megan, the dedication and commitment she has shown to her sport is a something she should be very proud of, well done.”
