Chippenham Sports Partnership news

and makes for fitter more adaptable players as they get older. It was great to see so many talented young players with nail biting play offs and Monkton Park just snatching the win from Queens Crescent.

High Five Netball This year’s Level 2 School Games High 5 Netball was our biggest to date with over 19 teams entering. High 5 Netball has 5 players on court and up to four off court roles, high 5 enables you to engage more pupils into sport and when they are not on court the players have roles such as time keeping and scoring.

High 5 is a mixed team event and allows both boys and girls to enjoy the sport. The key part of High 5 is players rotating around positions. This means all pupils get to experience every position on court

Primary Multi Skills Festival Abbeyfield hosted a Primary Multi Skills Festival run in conjunction with the Chippenham Partnership of Schools. It was an exciting day for our team of 50 highly trained Sports Ambassadors, ages from 13 – 18. 120 primary school students in KS1, from 6 to 7 years of age took part from Derry Hill, Monkton Park and Stanton St Quinton primary schools.

The Sports Ambassadors took all the primary school children in groups of ten, into the Sports Hall and onto their designated multi skills station.

KS1 Multi Skills focuses on the fundamentals of agility, balance and coordination allowing all students to participate in a range of fun games and activities alongside

other children from other primary schools. It also allows the students to experiment with different types of movement and explore sports in a new fun way. Comment from Derry Hill School Teacher - “Our students had such a wonderful time, your Sports Ambassadors have shown lots of leadership and enthusiasm” Comment from Monkton Park School Teacher - “What a great festival, thank you so much”

Crazy Christmas cross country 9 different primary schools descended on Sheldon and Hardenhuish School playing fields for the annual Crazy

Christmas cross country. All the pupils dressed in Christmas attire, then proceeded to run (most of them twice!) around the playing fields of Sheldon and Hardenhuish. Secondary school sports leaders marshalled the run enthusiastically.

There were so many smiling faces coming through the finish line feeling very proud of themselves! They finished up the morning with hot chocolate and all the trimmings at Sheldon School.

Crowdfunding Supporting Sport Locally Involved in Sport ? Need Funds ? we can help ....

Wiltshire and Swindon Sport (WASP) has launched a new innovative funding scheme for the benefit of those playing and involved in sport in Wiltshire and Swindon.

In association with Podium Partners, WASP want to help local young and disabled people to develop their potential. By offering the opportunity for schools, organisations, clubs and athletes to promote their campaigns on the crowdfunding website and social networks enables them to raise funds by bringing their project to the attention of the wider public and businesses.

The campaign can be for:

 Clothing  Equipment and facility hire  Coaching and specialist workshops  Training and competition costs

 Overnight accommodation whilst competing

 Travel to and from venues  Physio treatment fees

In fact pretty much any costs incurred by young athletes on their journey towards their sporting goals. All we ask is that they compete in a sport recognised by Sport England and that they are part of an appropriately constituted club.

We have 12 campaigns covering 10 different sports from all over the county waiting to reap the benefits of the Crowdfunding platform. They range from Cheerleading to Ice-skating and they hope to raise from as little as £500 to £10,000 for their sporting needs. You to could benefit from the power of the crowd and their on line donations, which together with Gift Aid will boost every £10 raised to become £12.50.

It’s that simple and a real opportunity to support sport locally.
