Year 6 sailors
This term has seen Year 6 continuing their sailing lessons at Farmoor Reservoir. The Reservoir is one of the best inland waters in the South of England, and training is provided by the Oxford Sail Training Trust, who are authorised
by the Royal Yachting Association. The children start their sailing tuition in the Autumn term and then complete it during the Summer and we are delighted that in 2018 all of Year 6 have achieved their RYA Stage 2 awards.
Sibford go gold again! On the last day of term news reached us that Sibford had once again been awarded the prestigious Gold Schools Games Mark in recognition of our participation, opportunity and excellence in sporting activities in 2017/18. The award will be officially presented in the Autumn term. Toby Spence said: “This was brilliant news to end the term on. Thanks
to all of our PE staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment to the children of Sibford School and, of course, to all our pupils for the tremendous amount of effort they put into their sport. Well done all.”

Warwickshire Hunt Members Race at Mollington riding his uncle’s horse ‘Grove Field’. Henry came home in 4th place and won the prize for the first novice rider past the winning post. His achievement is even more remarkable as he has Cystic Fibrosis and has to do a twice daily regime of respiratory physio and nebulized drugs to prevent his lungs becoming clogged and infected. Friends of Henry’s, including fellow Sibford pupils, used the occasion to go around with collection buckets and raised over £500 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Meanwhile, on the same
weekend, Henry’s brother Billy, a pupil in Year 9, had to stand in at the last minute to compete as the under 25 member in the Warwickshire jumping relay team at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The team of four got
through four heats to the semi-final and then went on to win the final in front of packed Windsor main arena and the Queen in the Royal Box! Well done to both boys.
