Charity chop!
Year 8 pupil Lily returned to school after the Easter holidays sporting a brand new look. The 12-year-old had her hair cut in aid of the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people up to the age of 24 who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.
Not only did Lily donate her hair, but she also raised £580 for the Trust.
Lily was following in the
footsteps of Sibford School charities coordinator, Zoë Simms who has also had an encounter with the scissors in aid of the Little Princess Trust.
Year 5 step back in time
Year 5 took a trip back in time when they visited Mary Arden’s Farm in Wilmcote for a ‘living history’ experience. The farm, which belonged to Shakespeare’s mother, is run closely to
how it would have been in Elizabethan England. The children dressed in replica Tudor clothes and were able to experience the sounds and smells of a working Tudor farm as well as helping out with the many daily tasks.
The bee’s knees Sibford boarders were able to enjoy a close look at bees making honey when they visited Rectory Farm in nearby Epwell in June. The farm was open as part
of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) Open Farm Sunday, a nationwide initiative which sees more than 1,500 farmers opening their gates to the public. In addition to the bees, our boarders also got close to a herd of dairy cows and enjoyed ice cream made from their milk.
