Jeff’s seven-year service has allowed him to build a rapport with customers and strengthen trust from patients, relatives and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
On a daily basis, Jeff is faced with challenges such as getting medication to someone who cannot answer the door because of mobility problems, deafness or blindness, but he overcomes these obstacles in a way that always maintains the patient’s dignity.
Jeff regularly seeks to improve his pharmacy knowledge. Having felt that greater pharmacy knowledge would be beneficial in his role, he asked if he could undertake a counter assistant training course, which he duly completed. Jeff regularly relays counselling points to patients from the pharmacist and has undertaken training to understand when further pharmacist intervention may be necessary.
Once, when delivering to a regular, elderly patient, Jeff found himself in
an unfortunate position when the customer took unwell and collapsed in front of him. Despite calling an ambulance for help and diligently following all the emergency services instructions, Jeff felt anxious that he had been unequipped to help more. As a result, and without seeking financial help or remuneration from the company, he embarked on a first aid training course. The course was not for self gratification but a genuine pursuit to enable Jeff to meet the needs of all his patients.
