I would recommend booking a slightly larger room block than you think you might need if you are in a location or at a time of year where the resort may sell out. When you go in to contract, negotiate the best drop date that you can for the rooms and also attempt to get the resort to agree to a 75 percent use rate instead of 90 percent. This is usually not extremely difficult to do if you are in a high season, as by then the resort may have a waiting list and does not run a big risk of not selling any rooms you drop.
