to the March/April 2018 edition of Aroundtown. Dear Reader

blanketing of snow as we faced our print deadline wasn’t ideal. However, thanks to the dedication of my staff, we can bring you our spring edition on time and hopefully shed some warmth into your life. We have had the most enquiries ever at the start of 2018 with both new and long established businesses asking us to help promote them and for this we are very humble. From a new baking school to an opticians celebrating 40 years, all we ask is that you support these independents businesses and help us keep it local. When we found out about the £3.4million investment Cannon Hall had received to improve their parklands we decided to go and meet the people behind the project. Over the next couple of years there are impressive plans that we are delighted share with you. What we love most about this job is meeting the selfless individuals who make a difference to others. None other than Dr Steve Burns whose path we have crossed many times through his charity work, particular his involvement in the beer festival. We were intrigued to find out about Steve’s remarkable career which you can read all about in our Aroundtown Meets. Getting out and about is something we all look forward to with the change of seasons and longer daylight hours. You will be spoilt for choice on one weekend in early May with a range of activities starting with the Tour de Yorkshire, the second stage of which starts outside Barnsley Town Hall. If it’s more your thing to be in on the action then join Ray Matthews our much loved marathon man who will be heading up Rotherham’s first 10k run. And don’t forget Wath Festival which is on throughout the bank holiday weekend. Whatever your plans for spring, be it finding a new
