Lynyrd Skynyrd will kick off their final tour May 4 in West Palm Beach, Florida, more than 40 years after the band's debut album was re- leased. The Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Famers have announced that the farewell tour will also fea- ture Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr., Bad Company, the Marshall Tucker Band and 38 Special. The Charlie Daniels Band will be featured on some shows as well. . . Our good friend and former lead singer for Molly Hatchet and Southern Rock Allstars, Jimmy Farrar needs your help. He has had a hell of a hard time with health recently, requiring quadruple bypass surgery in 2017, and now the complica- tions continue to mount. His wife Elizabeth had to quit her job in order to care for him, and his social security check is barely covering bills, which are growing daily because of kidney is- sues and the need for vascular stints in his legs. As if that weren’t enough, thier 16-year old ve- hicle died, and they have to ask friends for rides to the doctor and everywhere else. If you are or ever have been a fan of Jimmy’s like me, or Southern Rock, also like me, I implore you to make a donation to their Go Fund Me Page today. https://www.gofundme.com/jimmy-far- rarmore-medical-expenses . Thank you. . . The Marcus King Band week recently kicked off two weekend runs with Umphrey's McGee before teaming up with JJ Grey & Mofro and North Mississippi Allstars leading up to the he Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea cruise in Miami. From there the band is off to France for All That Jazz. Tour dates & ticket information is available at MarcusKingBand.com/tour. . . . The Silver Travis Band is wrapping up their new album (their third) under the direction of Tim Lawter (Marshall Tucker Band) at his Mill Street Studios in Inman, SC. We have heard several of the band’s new songs and can honestly say they are some of their best ever. Find out more at www.silvertravis.com . . . Michael Buffalo Smith’s EP, The Austin

The digital EP was recorded in Austin, Texas and produced by Billy Eli and Jim Hemphill. Buffalo’s new full-length album is also close to wrapping. Produced by Capricorn legend Paul Hornsby at his Musca- dine Studios in Macon, GA, the album contains all original songs finding Buffalo backed by Tommy Talton on guitar and slide; Paul Hornsby on keyboards; Towson Engsberg on drums (Tommy Crain & the Crosstown Allstars); Joey Parrish on bass (Silver Travis Band); Daniel Jackson on guitar& backing vocals (Silver Travis); Greg Yeary on guitar (long time band mate of Buffalo); and EG Kight on backing vocals (solo star blues songstress). . . Speaking of E.G. Kight, she was attacked and mauled on February 8 by three pit bull dogs while on her regular neigh- borhood walk. Che was bitten very badly, but thankfully a couple in a car passing by saw the attack and managed to stop it long enough to rescue E.G. and take her to the ER. Please keep The Georgia Songbird in your thoughts and prayers. . .Like the classic rock, kids? The Stars Align” Tour begins in July and hits many of the great venues around the country.
