He died of liver cancer on Dec. 8 in Abadiânia, Brazil; Pat DiNizio was the lead singer and songwriter of the Smithereens, who had hits in the late '80s and early '90s with power pop classics like "Blood and Roses," "Behind the Wall of Sleep" and "A Girl Like You." He died on Dec. 12 at the age of 62 after a few years of health issues; Larry Harris was second-in- command at Casablanca Records, the home of KISS, Donna Summer and many other hit acts of the '70s. He died of an abdominal aneurysm on Dec. 18; Jim Burns co-created MTV's 'Unplugged' series, which resulted in hit albums for many acts, including Eric Clap- ton, Nirvana, Neil Young and Rod Stewart. He passed away on Dec. 26 from injuries sus- tained when he was struck by a taxi in New York three days earlier; Songwriter Kenny Beard died on Oct. 1 from natural causes. He wrote songs for Trace Adkins and Tracy Lawrence, and his hits included "As Any Fool Can See," "Big Time," "If The World Has a Front Porch" and "The Rest of Mine." He's also the writer behind Aaron Tippin's signa- ture hit,“Where the Stars and Stripes and Eagle Fly," along with tracks recorded by Jeff Bates and Clay Davidson. Godspeed guys.
