FOOD

KUDZOO enjoyed some mighty fine eats in 2017. These are our rankings for the Top 5 best restaurants we visited last year.

1. The Desert Rose Steakhouse, Glen- dale, AZ. The steak for two with veggies is a

protein platter filled with prime rib, filet and New York strip steak. Never have I seen that much meat on a platter. But it wasn’t just the quantity, it was the quality. Mouth watering. Our number one with a bullet.

2. Trudy’s North Star, Austin, TX. Truly authentic Tex-Mex food. The real

deal. None of this “I’ll have the #8 combo” crap. Probably the first true Mexican I have consumed since my Aunt Marjorie DeLaVega in San Jose, CA cooked us a real Mexican feast years ago. And boy is it good with ice cold Lone Star beer!

3. Willy Taco An Upstate South Carolina success story.

There’s one in Spartanburg and one in Greenville. A whole new take of Mexican food. Expect the unexpected, and an awesome line up of adult beverages and special tequila drinks.

4. Threadgills, Austin, TX. The legendary venue where Janis Joplin

used to sing is a fine restaurant with an exten- sive menu and great ambiance.

5. Kudzu Seafood, Macon, GA. Right in the heart of Allman Brothers land

stands a relatively new restaurant that serves the freshest seafood at a decent price. Kudzu is a big piece of the puzzle that is redefining downtown Macon, a great place to visit. •
