love to start a new year by taking some time to acknowledge ev- erything I accomplished in the past year and celebrate my “wins”! I actually spend the last week of December and fi rst week of Janu- ary doing this. I believe it’s so important because often we rarely give ourselves credit for all of the great things we do each year and instead focus more on what we didn’t do – like losing more weight, exercis- ing more, improving our fi nancial situation or spending more time with family. Now don’t get me wrong – I do refl ect on what I didn’t
I Maine
accomplish and spend a lot of time asking myself, “Why?”, but I’ll get to that in a minute. Here’s what I’d love for all of you to do this January: Find a few days or a weekend and write down everything you accomplished this year…
even the little things like fi nding 5 minutes a day to start a meditation program or allowing your- self more time for self-care. These are huge if you’ve never done them before. Celebrate these successes – really acknowledge them, tell your friends and family, take yourself out to a nice dinner, get a massage or just make a toast to yourself. It sounds silly – but it really reinforces to your brain that you can be successful in many areas of your life.
Next, take some time to write down what you didn’t accomplish this year. Ask yourself
why this happened. Is it because you really didn’t want to achieve that goal? Were you afraid to achieve it? Was the payoff not worth the amount of work? Is it something someone else told you to do or you thought you should because everyone else is doing it – shiny object syndrome?!? If there are any goals on this list that you really don’t feel drawn to anymore – cross them off now! Believe me – there’s plenty of dreams to be accomplished, but they have to be things you really WANT – not what you think you SHOULD do or want.
We have some great articles to help you improve your life this month – from fi nding love to to making sustainable lifestyle changes and New Year’s resolutions that fi nally bring lasting change!

was fi rst introduced to manifestation a number of years ago by a good friend of mine. We were headed to a concert intown Portland where I knew the parking was not going to be easy. When we arrived, I immedi- ately said, “We’re never going to fi nd a place to park” which was followed by her immediate response of, “Yes we will, because my parking spot is always waiting for me.” And lo and behold, we turned the corner and there was an empty spot right near the concert venue!
I I was recently reminded of this event when I went to dinner a few weeks ago with that same
friend. We arrived at a busy restaurant where the parking lot was packed and this time around we both said, “Our parking spot is waiting for us.” And guess what? The parking spot right next to the front door was sitting there empty just waiting for us to arrive! On the way to the restau- rant, we had a conversation around positive thinking, the law of attraction and wondering why we don’t do what we know we should do to have what we want in our lives. So, after parking in “our” spot, we turned to each other and said, “If we can manifest something as small as a parking spot and get really excited about that, then why don’t we do that in all the other areas of our lives?” Insert hysterically laughter here.
The reason I bring this up is because we all are capable of bringing into our lives that which
we desire, but the question is, do you know what you really want? The new year is the perfect time to refl ect on the past and make plans for the future. I would encourage you to do some soul searching at the beginning of 2018 and write down on paper what you really want in all the areas of your life and then read the article in this issue by Elizabeth Jackson titled, “Are you willing to change?” so you can stop self-sabotaging and start manifesting the life you truly desire. Happy New Year!
