Broadstone Youth Club We are
incredibly proud of our young members who created our very own Big Red Festive Truck complete with Royal visitors as part of the
Broadstone Christmas Parade.
In all, over 35 young people and around 10 volunteer youth workers took part in the annual event, walking in the parade and running our book stall. The money raised will go towards a special treat for the young people and we hope that some of the many people who received flyers from our young people will choose to make 2018 the year they join us as new volunteers.
Before Christmas we said a sad goodbye to Joyce, who has been part of our team for the last few years. Joyce won’t mind me saying she was not someone you would think would volunteer at the club, being older than most of our members’ grandparents, but she was always popular at the coffee bar – not just with the boys and girls, but with us too as she made the best ice cream waffles, and no young person dared get away without a “please” or “thank you”! With her other responsibilities at St John’s Church, Joyce has stepped down from regular volunteering but we hope she will pop in to see us every so often.
Could you see yourself at the Youth Club? Helping out behind the coffee bar, supervising a pool tournament or running silly games....weekly or fortnightly during term time for just two hours. Please get in touch if you can help, we are waiting for your call (or email!).
