Neptune opens store in Edgbaston

Interiors and lifestyle brand Neptune has opened its largest UK store in Harborne Road, Edgbaston. The store is a 700-square metre

retail space and is the last addition to Calthorpe Estates’ Edgbaston Village development. It is located in a newly-

refurbished three storey red brick Edwardian building that provides an ideal setting for Neptune’s solid timber kitchen designs, furniture collections, lighting and interior decorations. Many of the original features,

such as the double door entrance, cornicing, skirting and fireplaces have been retained and restored. Neptune began trading in 1996

from a farm workshop in Wiltshire. It has increased its total number of retail outlets to 20. Manager Sarah McDonald said: “The feedback has been amazing

with people loving the room sets and gaining inspiration from the way the store is set out and how there are design consultation areas.” Calthorpe Estates has invested in

converting period properties that are being sought for high-end, independent and niche operators.

Retail offering brings in the Christmas shoppers

Retail Therapy

By Michaela Moore General Manager of Bullring and Grand Central

We’re now fully in the festive period, which we always mark by dressing up our iconic Bull, unveiling his new costume on one of the most exciting days of the retail calendar; Black Friday. We’re feeling positive about

the Christmas period, offering customers from across the Midlands three strong brands; Bullring, Grand Central and LinkStreet. In just the past few months we’ve welcomed Russell and Bromley, Coach and local designer, Stephen Arthur, to the mix at Bullring, all being new additions to our Upper East Mall. They sit alongside the newly- refurbished Hugo Boss store and the iconic Selfridges, which itself has undergone a major revamp of its fourth floor, bringing to the centre the region’s first Tiffany & Co. store as well as the new San Carlo Fumo restaurant. At the start of our third quarter

Indian street food restaurant, Mowgli, opened to the public at Grand Central joining the centre’s strong and diverse casual dining offer, followed by the opening of gadget and gifts store, Menkind.

‘As with every Christmas, we expect to see in the region of one million customers a week throughout December’

Last month we also welcomed the luxury bath, body and home brand, Rituals Cosmetics, in a 150sq m boutique space. The new store features the brand’s extensive collection of bath, body and home care, as well as precious mineral make-up, pure tea, and yoga and soul wear. In our innovative mall space,

LinkStreet, we’ve seen brands go from strength-to-strength with pop-up kiosks such as rolled ice cream operator Lo and Be Cold performing exceptionally well with our customers. The hub for small, independent retailers, has welcomed a number of brands over the past 12 months offering them a location to showcase their products to the millions of customers that use the mall every month.

injectables, all performed by fully-qualified and trained doctors, nurses and aestheticians. The clinic will open on Level 1 of the Mailbox alongside The Wedding Club, Heal’s, MADE.COM, Kitchen Gallery, Castle Fine Art, Fine and Country and Ribble. David Pardoe, head of marketing, retail and

tenant engagement at the Mailbox, said: “Level 1 is fast becoming a destination in its own right for premium lifestyle retailers and Flint + Flint will be a very welcome addition. “With its premium but quirky offering, I have no doubt the clinic will be a huge success.”

During the Christmas period we

have extended our regular shopping hours to 10pm on weekdays, as well as providing a special evening car park tariff of a £3 flat rate after 5pm. As with every Christmas, we

expect to see in the region of one million customers a week throughout December with big queues expected across the centre on Boxing Day. Looking back on 2017 we’ve

welcomed a multitude of big international brands, as well as seeing a number of existing brands reinvest in the centre with large-scale refurbishments. The next year marks a

milestone for Bullring as the centre celebrates its 15th anniversary, and we’re feeling confident about the year ahead.
