WHAT’S NEW AMH INTRODUCES NEW CDFXA SHORTENING HOOK ASSEMBLIES FROM CARTEC

All Material Handling is excited to introduce the new CARTEC Grab-IT clevis shortening hook line. The CDFXA is available in one single hook piece, but also with an integrated master link for one, two, and four leg chain slings. This a great addition to a quality line of Grade 100 chain fittings from CARTEC. Sizes range from 9/32" to 5/8", giving the CFDXA a more complete offering than the competition. CDFX individual hooks are available down to 7/32".

Adjustable chain slings are quite common, but the

conventional way of constructing those is changing. The Grab-IT offers the ability to have an adjustable sling, with less components than the conventional method. For example, let’s look at a 2-leg adjustable chain sling bridle: the CDFXA2, for instance, will reduce the number of fittings at the top of the sling from 7 pieces down to just 3. That

assembly offers the functionality of a master link, connect- ing link and grab hook. There is no need for an adjuster leg. Having less hardware typically means less weight, which is another plus. Fewer components also means there is less hardware

to inspect for wear or damage. Get the job done more efficiently by spending less time on pre-lift inspections. Riggers can now have these benefits while maintaining the versatility of an adjustable sling for a variety of loads. There is benefit for those assembling adjustable slings, as there are less fittings to mechanically attach, potentially saving time and labor costs as a result. High quality Italian forged chain fittings, competitively

priced, and readily available from stock in the US makes for a winning combination. Visit the AMH website at allmaterialhandling.com to learn more. y

WHAT’S NEW NEW PORTABLE SIMULATOR DESIGNED TO PROVIDE CLASSROOMS WITH FULL CATALOGUE OF CM LABS EQUIPMENT TRAINING PACKS

CM Labs Simulations, developer of Vortex training simulators, today announced the availability of the new Vortex Edge, the latest addition to their construction equipment simulator product line. The Vortex Edge laptop

simulator is a compact and flexible training tool that allows construction equipment operator trainers to deploy virtual equipment in classrooms, in order to dem- onstrate machine components, safe operator practices, and equipment behaviour.

The compact Vortex Edge can be transported

in a single carrying case, and comes loaded with any of a series of equipment training pack bundles, including RT mobile crane with tower crane; hydraulic excavator with wheel loader; crawler crane; backhoe loader; and motor grader. The Vortex Edge is designed to plug into

classroom displays or projectors, or can simply be operated as is, out of the box. It can be used for effective self-paced learning on the trainee’s desktop, for instructor-led classroom instruction, or even as a “showcase simulator” for recruitment events. With the Vortex Edge, trainers can

complement classroom training theory with

simulation-based examples and operating scenarios. Developed in collaboration with heavy equipment schools, the Vortex Edge comes bundled with training exercises that cover basic controls and operations, as well as challenges that trainees can use to benchmark their skills as they progress through the course. The Vortex Edge runs on the same

engineering-grade simulation that powers the Vortex simulators used by training schools and fleet owners internationally. This means that all machine components behave as they do in the real world, whether operators are digging a trench or catching a swing. y
