Swimming Pool Scene UK POOL AND SPA AWARDS

Raising The Bar

Businesswoman and broadcaster Michelle Dewberry is the VIP guest at this year’s UK Pool & Spa Awards.

Michelle, the winner of the second series of The Apprentice, will hear which businesses and individuals are ahead of the field in the delivery of all aspects of water leisure.

Now in its eighth year, more than a 100 companies have entered in this year’s UK Pool & Spa Awards setting a new competition record of nearly 250 entries. Some sectors have been so well supported that the organisers have split groups, such as the residential pools section, based on monetary value of the projects involved.

“As the competition grows, year on year, we are hearing about the enormous marketing boost to companies that take part,” comments Christina Connor, on behalf of the competition organisers, Waterland Media.

“The aim of these awards is to acknowledge outstanding work of as many companies as possible, giving them an opportunity to promote their own company but also, collectively, the water leisure industry as a whole,” she adds. “Every year, the contest just gets

Unprecedented entries for the 2017 UK Pool & Spa Awards… better and better,” she adds.

The awards presentation evening returns, by popular demand, to The Vox conference centre with Resorts World at Birmingham’s NEC on Monday December 4th. The evening will begin at 7pm with a business networking drinks reception, sponsored by water treatment specialists, Lonza UK.

PROFILE RAISING

Guests will have the opportunity to meet with all of the companies involved in sponsoring the awards – all helping to raise the profile of the industry as a whole.

An informal buffet dinner will precede the hotly-contested prize giving when finalists across the 31 categories will be photographed with the event’s special guest, businesswoman and broadcaster, Michelle Dewberry.

“The awards are an unrivalled opportunity and an excellent shop window for an industry that just collectively and continuously strives to raise the bar,” says Christina.

“One of the trends we are seeing this year is that more companies are stepping up into the high-end market while refurbishment and renovation works continues to provide bread and butter income for many businesses,” she adds.

All competition entrants are awarded bronze, silver of gold accreditation in some 31 event categories. The majority of category winners are decided by public vote, judges’ votes and then the results are scrutinised by an independent jury. Some categories such as Supplier Of The Year and Pool Technician Of The Year are considered by the jury alone.
