Eventmasters gets out of the gate at Aintree

When it comes to horse racing, hospitality supplier Eventmasters can claim it is way ahead of the rest of the field. That’s because as well as

arranging hospitality at race meetings, as it has done for more than 30 years, the company also owns several race horses. Among them is high-flying ‘Monbeg Legend’, who is quickly establishing himself as Eventmasters’ flagship horse, with several key victories to date.

‘Is it too much to dream that he could reach the dizzy heights of Imperial Commander?’

Monbeg Legend opened his

account with a tremendous 27 lengths victory at Southwell and has since repeated that fine performance with two more victories at Worcester, winning by 1¼ and ¾ lengths respectively. Monbeg Legend is due to feature

in a number of hurdle races this year, before embarking on his novice chasing career next season. As well as winning races,

Eventmasters is also busy on the

hospitality side of racing, and has unveiled a new venture with Aintree Racecourse involving a brand-new hospitality facility which will be on offer for the prestigious Grand National Festival next April. This luxuriant restaurant facility

overlooks Aintree’s famous starting line. The facility also offers fine dining and drinks. Denise Sheasby, managing

director of Eventmasters, and part- owner of the late Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, Imperial Commander,

A day at the races: Monbeg Legend at Worcester racecourse

said: “To announce an exciting new venture with Aintree, home to the world’s most famous horse race, is a wonderful step forward as we look to deliver our consistently impeccable and unrivalled corporate hospitality service. “It is also extremely exciting to

be involved with Monbeg Legend, is it too much to dream that he could reach the dizzy heights of Imperial Commander? “Hopefully he can propel us back to the top table.”

Brewers support for charity

Championship soccer team Burton Albion Football Club and tyre firm Pirelli have donated £2,500 to the locally- based Brain Tumour Charity. The cash has come largely

from supporters paying to use the Pirelli staff car park during home matches at Burton’s Pirelli Stadium ground. This raised £2,100, and Pirelli have added another £400. The Brain Tumour Charity

funds medical research and supports those affected by brain tumours. The Pirelli cash is in support of a local resident, Rebecca Brookes, who has herself raised more than £8,000 for the charity. Her fundraising efforts

began when her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumour earlier this year. Pirelli UK chairman Dominic

Sandivasci said: "We are delighted to be able to support Rebecca in her quest to raise as much money as possible for The Brain Tumour Charity.” • Burton Albion has gained another sponsor for this season, with United Pallet Network (UPN) agreeing to back the team. UPN’s logo will now feature

on the team’s shorts for the remainder of the season.

Skier smashes record with help from Jaguar

Former British Olympic skier Graham Bell has set a new Guinness World Record – with the help of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake. Bell broke the record for the

fastest towed speed on skis, pulled by the XF Sportbrake. After only a couple of practice

attempts it was clear that Bell and the XF Sportbrake were more than ready for the challenge. He went on to smash the target

set by more than 47mph, achieving an average top speed of 117mph at Jaguar Land Rover’s Arctic Revi Test Centre in Arjeplog, Sweden. With temperatures of -28C, it

was a stern challenge of the skier’s physical limits and the premium estate’s performance. The existing record stood at a

fraction under 70mph, but with the

XF Sportbrake’s all-wheel drive technology, Adaptive Surface Response (AdSR) and All Surface Progress Control, it comfortably hit the speeds required to set the record. Jeremy Hicks, Jaguar Land Rover

UK managing director, said: “The XF Sportbrake's superb traction, handling and high speed stability made it the perfect choice for this speed record attempt. “We’re extremely proud to have

supported Graham in this incredible world-beating achievement – it’s this kind of trail-blazing activity that really tests our cars to their limits. “The XF Sportbrake builds on the

success of the saloon and has all of the advanced all-wheel drive (AWD) technologies and aluminium-intensive architecture that have made the XF a multi- award winner.”
