‘Planning mastermind’ joins Chamber event


Birmingham City Council’s planning mastermind is guest speaker at a Chamber event at Park Regis hotel in December. Waheed Nazir (pictured), who has held at


number of roles at the council, is responsible for bring forward the regeneration projects now reshaping the city. These projects include Birmingham Smithfield


and the HS2 Curzon masterplan. Mr Nazir has worked for the council for more than 20 years, and is currently the city’s corporate director for economy. In this role, he is responsible for strategic


leadership and direction in many areas, including the council’s property portfolio, planning, regeneration, housing development, transportation and connectivity, highways and infrastructure, skills

The Chamber, together with the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce, is holding its annual Christmas social networking event on 13 December. The event is being held at top store Selfridges,


which is housed in one of the city’s most iconic buildings, and is part of the Bull Ring shopping centre. The networking begins at 17.30 and this event is free for Chamber members, and £15 for non-members.


An ‘early bird’ ticket offer has been announced for this year’s Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and Tamworth Business of the Year awards. The awards were held for the first time a year


ago, at The Belfry, by the Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield & Tamworth Chambers of Commerce. At the awards, more than 250 guests saw


trust management firm Auriga Services Limited walk off with the Sutton Coldfield Business of the Year award. IT and cloud specialists First Class Technologies picked up the Lichfield

Business of the Year award, while Tamworth’s Business of the Year accolade was shared by liquid adhesive, sealant, coating and primer manufacturers Apollo Chemicals and family restaurant and catering service Roasters of Tamworth. The awards are set to repeat the debut year’s winning formula, on Friday 26 January at The Belfry.
