Birmingham Rathbone Society This business supports people with learning disabilities and a year ago launched the ‘Rebuild My Life’ project, which offers a critical lifeline for this vulnerable group. In its first year, this project has supported 36 people through a crisis in their lives.


Chase Terrace Technology College A multi-academy/charitable trust (MAT) since January, but an educational provider for more than 70 years. The college supports many community activities, including care in the community, where students visited local care home to have tea with the residents.

Outstanding Contribution to Society Aspire Supported Living CIC A business that has, in its own words, gone from a ‘blank piece of paper’ to an established not-for- profit organisation in just three years. The business, which helps the homeless and disadvantaged, now supports more than 1,000 vulnerable individuals, and has a turnover of £3m.


Outstanding Customer Service of the Year Blakes Restaurant and Cocktail A business which has undergone significant growth in recent years, despite limited resources being available. The directors of the business bought the freehold to their hotel building four years ago, and have since carried out a £600,000 refurbishment, which has helped boost turnover.

Hotel du Vin A high-end hotel in central Birmingham that says it is anything but ‘stuffy’. It has 66 bedrooms and an award winning bistro, as a well a private dining rooms. Among guests praising the hotel is TV’s Gary Newbon, who was delighted that celebrity guests at his recent 70th birthday were treated to ‘exceptional’ service.


Sabai Sabai Restaurant Group The first Sabai Sabai business opened in Moseley a decade ago – and the owners say that customer service has been at the heart of what they do, and the growth they have enjoyed, which has included expanding into Harborne and Stratford.


ABCC president Saqib Bhatti said: “I am


absolutely astounded by the quality of applications that came through this year. “Judging for these awards was not an easy


task and it all goes to show the talent and quality of business people and business out there in the West Midlands.” Chairman of judges and Chamber chief


operating officer Russell Jeans added: “The judges were hugely impressed by the quality of applications, demonstrating the vibrancy and positivity of business enterprise in the region.”
