Dear Members,
I hope this message finds you well and you’re ready for the mad rush of projects to be completed by Christmas. The last twelve months have flown by during my time in office as the
National President and this is my final letter to the Members of the PDA as President. Both Sarah and I have thoroughly enjoyed what has been a very busy
year in office, we have attended all the appointments that our Chief Executive has asked us to carry out and have enjoyed meeting friends, old and new! I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at head office for their hard work and support in making our year worthwhile. In my acceptance address I stated that during my time in office I
would like to attract more young Members and female decorators to the PDA. With the help of our recruiter I believe we have been successful in that objective. In conjunction with Ann Cook Associates the PDA has secured funding
for our Members to complete NVQ Level 2 and Level 3, to enable them to gain the CSCS card which is becoming more widely needed in our trade. There is also funding to train four NVQ assessors within the trade. Further details are available on the new website and in the Education Section of the magazine.

52-54 Tooltalk This year’s National Conference is to be held at the Marriott Hotel,
Bristol over the weekend of 10-12 November, which promises to be a popular networking event. This year’s AGM is being held at the Ricoh
Stadium on the first day of the Painting & Decorating Show. We hope this means that it is easier to get PDA Members to come to the AGM and have your say! At the AGM, I will step down as President and install Sammy Davis as the new President for the coming year. Take a look at the new recently
launched website for all details and future events taking place at the PDA. Thank you for your support over
the past twelve months, from Sarah and myself.
