MIDLANDS & SOUTH WEST REGION Hi fellow Members,
I’m writing this, two days after the MSW Regional AGM/Conference and boy what a fun time it was! There were some quite in-depth discussions
during the actual AGM over several topics, one of which was the rather disappointing lack of attendance by actual MSW members. Our National President, Stuart Yates, spoke very
eloquently about the impact social media and various Facebook groups have had at a regional level. He noted that in the past, Members would relish the chance of a good old chinwag every few months at various regional meetings, having not seen each other for a while, but now people are pretty much chatting every evening! I think when you combine this with ever
increasing busy lifestyles and associated cost of living, it’s clear to see why PDA regions have steadily seen a decline in attendance at events. There are lots of Member firms in the region and it’s a big area so maybe we should have our own regional online way of getting together! At our AGM and Conference, Ann Cook kindly
gave an informative presentation about the recent funding the PDA has received to enable Members
to access training and qualifications. I would strongly recommend you contact PDA HQ if you’re wanting to achieve either initial NVQ qualifications or further your existing ones. My personal thanks to Ann for taking the time to speak with us. I’m pleased to report that the evening Gala
Dinner was a great success. A little banter crept in during the speeches which made it quite a relaxed and ‘non-stuffy’ affair. Mr Ogilvie, our CEO, conducted the evening as toastmaster and kept us all in line as needed. By the end of the evening absolutely everyone was on their feet dancing, which was a great testimony to the live entertainment provided. I would like to personally thank Yvonne and
Denice at PDA Head Office for all the effort they put into making these events a success. Big thanks also to Graco UK, who donated a
handheld spray unit (worth over £500) to be raffled during the evening. Of the 25 people present (both members and additional guests), a princely total of £300 was raised for The Lighthouse Centre, a charity organisation who provide desperately needed palliative care to cancer sufferers in their own homes.

Well, that about sums up the AGM and dinner,
low on numbers but very high on fun factor! I would encourage all members who are
attending the P&D Show in November to use the opportunity to attend the PDA National AGM on the Tuesday morning and get involved in this meeting – after all, the PDA is run by the Membership for the Membership, and your active participation is encouraged. Bye for now, I look forward to seeing you all at the Ricoh in November.
Cheers, Frosty
Midland and South West AGM & Conference
THE MIDLAND AND South West Regional AGM & Conference was held at the Alveston Manor on Saturday 9 September. The AGM was held Saturday morning and during this period the
ladies and partners were taken on a river cruise along the Avon, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The Gala dinner was hosted by the Regional President, Ian Frost,
who is serving his second year. Daniel Morgan Hayes entertained the Region throughout the night
and had the members dancing until the small hours. The region would like to thank Graco for their generous
sponsorship. A Graco Ultra HH spray was given to the Region to raffle and raise money for charity. During the evening £300 was raised and this will be given to the President’s chosen charity which is The Lighthouse Centre. The Lighthouse Centre is a complimentary therapy unit offering holistic therapies for people with long term conditions and cancers in their own homes. Yvonne Dominey-Tay
