PDA National Council Members
We need you...
THE NATIONAL COUNCIL is the governing body of the Painting & Decorating Association, responsible to the membership at large and for the management of the Association. The Council is composed of the five officers of the Association, one
elected representative from each Region, the Chairman of the specialist committees appointed by the Council, and 20 elected representative of various membership categories. To ensure our Membership is properly represented and takes in the views
of all categories, we need more Members to put themselves forward to be part of the National Council. While the work of the National Council is crucial to the effective running
of the Association, the demands on time and commitment are not too onerous. Elected members serve for two years and are required to attend the meetings of the National Council in March (York), July (Midlands area), December (London). Meetings are usually held on a Wednesday from
10:30am to approximately 3pm. Council Members are paid a nominal attendance fee of £30 plus travel expenses. If you feel you could participate in the governance and management,
please fill in the nomination form. Members may nominate themselves or another/others, but please make sure that anyone else you nominate is willing to stand. Also, please send for each new person standing for election, a brief
summary (50-100 words) stating experience in the trade, activities within the Association, and any aspirations for the future. Profiles are only required for those who are not present members of the Council. The nomination forms and the short written ‘manifesto’ for each
candidate should be sent back to Head Office. Election of Members for the National Council is for Categories 1 and 3/4
and will take place at the Annual General Meeting on 28 November. A maximum of five representatives may be elected from each Category.
