INCIDENT ALERTS
SYSTEM LAUNCHED BUILD UK IS delighted to launch its Incident Alerts System, which allows its members to share information regarding accidents or incidents across the industry. The main objective of this system is to help reduce and minimise the number of accidents and incidents occurring on construction sites, by facilitating the sharing of information and knowledge. Incident Alerts will also facilitate the sharing
of the causes of an incident and lessons learnt to help prevent similar circumstances taking place on another project. The alert will not provide any company or personal information, making it completely confidential. Current practice suggests that while
organisations swiftly notify their internal teams of incidents and lessons learnt, this vital information is not shared across the industry. Through the System Build UK is encouraging its members to share information to support learning, as well as identifying trends within the industry which can be collectively acted upon.
y Patrizia Di Mauro, Secretary General, UNIEP PaintUp project gets funding
PAINT TUTORS UP (PaintUp), the project that UNIEP submitted to the EU Commission last March, has been selected for EU co-funding. Secretary General Patrizia Di Mauro (pictured) commented, “We are delighted at UNIEP to have been successful in this bid. It is one of only two projects selected to receive co-funding and this will enable the project to go ahead." UNIEP will lead the project but one of the main partners is
Doncaster College. PaintUp will map of the tutor’s role in different VET contexts, with the objective of identifying the common elements that could make a contribution to a painting, decorating and finishing sector approach. The aim is to produce a bespoke qualification for painting tutors to improve their skills. Also working on the project are Centre IFAPME Liège-Huy-
Waremme (Belgium), CCCA-BTP (France), SIOV (Slovakia), EPP (Belgium), and IMANOVATION (Portugal). The project will last two years, starting October 2017.
