Dartmouth Food Festival - 2017

Deli Dish of the Day: FINDING DARTMOUTH’S BEST HOME COOKS

SATURDAY 21ST OCTOBER

CLASSIC VICTORIA SPONGE CAKE: Bring your cake anytime between 12 and 2pm. Remember to label your cake with your name and mobile/home telephone number. If you wish you can include a sentence or two about why you consider yours to be ‘classic’.

We are looking for a perfect sponge (think texture, flavour, not too moist or too dry), and a filling which keeps its place and character once the actual cake has been assembled.

Judging. Will take place at 3.00pm and the winner announced at 4.00pm. You can collect your cake and/or plate any time

Sponsored by Smith Street Deli Community Café: Old Market Square

At Dartmouth Food Festival, it’s not all about the professional chefs. This year we are once again running our competition to find Dartmouth’s best home cooks.

Paul Greenfield and Alan Price, who run ‘Smith Street Deli’ have set a challenge to find the best home-made Victoria sponge cake (Saturday) and non-alcoholic cordial (Sunday).

Entry is simple. Bring your product to the Community Café in the corner of the Old Market Square on the day of the competition. A fabulous foodie hamper will be awarded for each day’s winner.

between 4.00pm and 4.30pm. SUNDAY 22ND OCTOBER

NON-ALCOHOLIC CORDIAL: Bring your cordial on the day between 12 and 2 pm.

Please use a glass bottle/container (we are a plastic free Festival) ready for us to dilute with water at the judging point. Remember to label it with your name, mobile/home telephone number and flavour, and feel free to advise on a recommended ratio of cordial to water to get us started.

Judging. Will take place at 3.00pm and the winner announced at 4.00pm. You can collect your bottle at any time between 4.00pm and 4.30pm.
