© Original Image Photography welcome - from the festival CHAIR

As the Festival enters its 15th year, I am delighted to be in my first year as Chair. Having been a volunteer for a number of years, it has been an honour to work alongside such a vibrant committee that make the Festival what it is today.

As a non-profit organisation, we work closely with our local community and our long-standing Children’s Day is something we’re immensely proud of. Introduced this year, our New Business Start-up Award was hotly contested and I am looking forward to tasting the Persian street food delights of our winner - Open Sesame.

Also new for 2017, is our single-use plastic free policy. As the Festival takes place on the banks of the River Dart, we are playing our part in tackling the growing environmental crisis caused by unwanted plastic. So, this year sees the Festival reducing single use plastics and moving towards 100% use of compostable cutlery, cups, plates and packaging. We will also be encouraging visitors to be greener by offering free water refills throughout the town – we hope you will join us on our sustainable journey.

We will also have our usual abundance of locally-produced, high quality products on our market stalls this year. So it is no wonder Dartmouth is the perfect setting for what has been described as a feast for the senses and I am very proud to be part of it. With incredible chefs such as Mitch Tonks, Angela Hartnett, Richard Bertinet, Romy Gill and Matt Tebbutt among many others joining us this year, the stage is set for it to be our best Festival yet!
