Bidborough breeds a village of champions
A
s the cricket season drew to a close, Bidborough Cricket Club (BCC) celebrated a hat-trick of
remarkable successes with all three of its senior teams. The fi rst team are Kent County Village League (KCVL) Division One Champions, the second team are Division Four Champions, and will be promoted, while the third team achieved promotion from Division 7. And with the U15s becoming Kent Premier U15 League Champions, Bidborough is becoming a real cricketing success story. BCC runs three cricket teams and a Sunday team, sponsored by The Kentish Hare in Bidborough, as well as successful junior teams including
the U9s who made it through to the mini 8s Kent fi nals.

Bronze in World Junior Swimming Championship for Annabel
Upper Sixth Kent College Pembury pupil and RTW Monson swimmer Annabel Guye- Johnson clinched the 200m breaststroke bronze medal on the fi nal day of the 2017 World Junior Championships in Indianapolis, USA. She took her personal best down to 2:27.42 to touch third in a thrilling fi nal, a mere 1.74 of a second behind the USA’s Ella Nelson. The World Junior Championships
is a six-day competition and the most prestigious junior event in the world, with many competitors this year having competed in the Rio Olympics. The GB team celebrated a number of successes, including coming fourth in the mixed 100m medley, as well as fourth in the women’s 100m medley relay with a time of 4.01.30, 0.25 of a second off the junior world record.

Tree of Hope celebrates its 25th anniversary with a sporting heroes charity lunch at The Spa Hotel, Tunbridge Wells, on 13th October. The Tunbridge Wells-based children’s charity kicks off its 25th anniversary celebrations with a special lunch on Friday 13th October at The Spa Hotel, where guests will include Chris Cowdrey, former Kent and England cricket captain, Lions rugby
personalities John Taylor and Rob Andrew, along with a number of other sporting legends. Tickets start at £85pp. Tables for 10
