068 FAMILY TIME EXTRA
Kids’ corner
R
oots and Wings is a nature- based ‘rite of passage’ group for girls aged 10-13, run by Kathryn Jordan,
an experienced teacher and nature connection facilitator.
Its aim is to be a support, place
of refuge, fun, learning, connection and guidance during the period of transition from childhood to adolescence. Girls can share time together outdoors – camping, cooking on fi res, playing games, developing their senses and connection to nature, each other and themselves. Activities will include bushcraft skills, arts and crafts and naturalist skills as well as
using music, singing and drama to develop an embodied sense of being. Roots and Wings will meet from spring 2018, one Saturday a month for a year, at Wilderness Wood, Hadlow Down, with some over- night camps. The year’s journey will culminate in a rite of passage experience, marking this special time of transition from childhood into teenage years. • To fi nd out more, go along for a meeting on 14th October at 3pm in The Meeting House at Wilderness Wood TN22 4HJ (near the cafe). Email Kathryn at limeleaves@yahoo.
co.uk to sign up for the course.
