Local school celebrates IB success

Tonbridge Grammar School students and staff had a great deal to celebrate as results for the International Baccalaureate Diploma were published across the world. Isabel Lavenstein achieved the highest possible score of 45 points and she joins a very select group of students to achieve this exceptional score each year worldwide. Isabel will be going onto study Economics at Jesus College Cambridge. Two students achieved 44 points, including Isabella Savage who will join St Catharine’s College Cambridge for Natural Sciences.

With a further six students achieving 43 and 12 being awarded 42 points there was plenty to celebrate. Half the year group are celebrating point scores of 38 and above (equivalent to three A* and one A at A-level) and 82% of this year’s Diploma graduates achieved points totals that put them in the highest echelons of UK academic achievement (three A*s at A-level). The average point score achieved was 37 – continuing the school’s strong record of achievement since having moved to an exclusively IB Diploma Sixth Form fi ve years ago.
