ARTS & CULTURE 079

Candlelit Concert in remembrance of Oli Max Cavey: 23/10/2001 – 09/03/2015

It would have been Oli’s 16th birthday on 23rd October. In remembrance of this beautiful young man who sadly took his own life and in conjunction with World Mental Health Day on 10th October, Oli’s mum Sue and husband Wyatt, supported by West Kent Mind, will hold a special concert at St John’s Church in Hildenborough on 20th October.

Oli was an enthusiastic and animated performer and his love for singing and dancing was obvious to all who had the pleasure of watching him perform. His spirited and vibrant personality was also conveyed in his fascination and passion with magic. Join West Kent Mind in a special concert to raise awareness of suicide prevention and awareness in young people featuring performances by Lucinda Drayton (Bliss) and Marcus Cliffe (The Manfreds) together with motivational short talks from life coach Simon Lee and Chris Morgan from West Kent Mind. The evening promises to be heartwarming and informative. • For tickets, visit www.

Tuneless Choir on song for local launch

A Tuneless Choir is set to launch in Tunbridge Wells this month, led by Sheena Wickenden, 44, who fi rst came across the idea whilst watching TV. Tuneless Choirs are for those who love singing but lack the ability, practise or confi dence to do so. Research tells us that singing in groups brings physical, emotional and social benefi ts and so at Tuneless Choir they believe everyone has a right to sing whatever their voice! They sing purely for the pleasure of it – with no pressure to improve – and just aim for everyone to leave their Tuneless Choir session feeling uplifted. Sheena says: “I saw

the fi rst Tuneless Choir, which started up in Nottingham in early 2016, when it was featured on The One Show. I thought it was fantastic. What a wonderful way to bring the community together.”

Since that day in April, Sheena has visited the choir in Nottingham. “There were about 130 people in the room and a real buzz. Everyone had so much fun, just singing their hearts out and not worrying how they sounded. I signed up to start my own ‘TLC’ as soon has the session had fi nished.” And so, Maidstone Tuneless Choir

THERE WERE ABOUT 130 PEOPLE IN THE ROOM AND A REAL BUZZ. EVERYONE HAD SO MUCH FUN, JUST SINGING THEIR HEARTS OUT

Launch night is Monday 9th October at 7.30pm at the Camden Centre, Unit 3 Market Square, Tunbridge Wells TN1 2SW. Tickets are £10 and can be booked at www. tunelesschoir.com/join- another-tunelesschoir/ tunbridgewells- tuneless-choir/, email tunbridgewells@ tunelesschoir.com or call Sheena on 07595 639145.
