Today’s community pharmacy has to be able to meet all of the needs of its patients. From a wide-ranging, all-encompassing selection of products to personal, one-to-one consultations, patients see the pharmacy as the ‘go to’ place for their healthcare needs. Here are three pharmacies which are already enjoying the benefits that Careway can bring...

Partridge’s Pharmacy Keady

The Betterlife range of products provides more than 300 different lines of disability, mobility and independent living products. Thanks to Careway, the range is delivered into the pharmacy for collection.

Focus on retail

‘The Betterlife range fits neatly into the overall health and wellbeing plan of our pharmacy,’ says pharmacist Heather Partridge. ‘The range of products offered by Betterlife – which includes adjustable beds, bath lifts and wheelchairs - more than meets our needs with its excellent delivery times and great value for money for the patients, while simultaneously maximising profitability for the pharmacy.

‘Our Careway ambassador, Sarah, comes to the pharmacy and spends time with the staff discussing shop layouts and products and trains the staff on seasonal campaigns. All of the staff find this very beneficial, as they develop their product knowledge and learn how to link sell products: a fact, which obviously benefits the pharmacy’s bottom line.

‘We decided to brand as Careway because we recognised the potentially greater recognition and reputation that the brand would bring to our pharmacy. This, combined with our pharmacy’s top-class customer service, means that we are increasingly viewed as the first port of call for healthcare in our community.’

Hartes Chemist Finaghy

Focus on promotions

Value for money is always a major draw for customers. Thanks to Careway’s fabulous monthly promotions, Hartes Chemist in Finaghy has attracted new customers to the pharmacy.

‘Careway have provided us with monthly offers and promotions that are seasonal and relevant to the pharmacy business,’ says Bronagh Carville, Operations Manager for Hartes Chemist Group.

‘Both the shop footfall and overall business have definitely been increased since we joined Careway and I’m convinced that this is not only down to the eye-catching shop signage, but also to the great range of products that are available to our patients at great prices.

Bannside Pharmacy Portglenone

Retail remains of prime importance to every community pharmacist. When Bannside Pharmacy in Portglenone took on the Careway model, owner Eoghan O’Brien was particularly impressed by how the layout and space of the pharmacy was utilised to maximise the retail potential.

‘The planograms, which Careway provided for us, have been extremely useful,’ he said. ‘Our hair product section is one particular example that has definitely benefitted from the revamp. Previously we had five shelves in the bay and this had created a slightly cluttered look. The five shelves meant

‘I’ve also been very impressed by the information that is supplied on the product display. It is very clear for all staff members to easily follow and its attractive appearance also enhances the overall look of the shop. We receive pound lines as well and these go down particularly well with our customers. The point-of-sale signage and shelf edging, which are provided by Careway, definitely enhance the pharmacy’s marketing skills.’

that the products were quite high up and this blocked the signage. Careway suggested reducing the stock to four shelves, which not only made the display look less cluttered, but also made the signage visible.

‘I really think that one of the main benefits of Careway has been that we’ve had a clear, fresh eye look at our retail offering and this has helped us to focus on what’s selling and what’s not. As a result, we’ve cut some ranges and expanded others, and there’s no doubt that these changes have been of benefit to the business.’
