MEMBER NEWS Electricals firm has the power

Power transformer manufacturer Bowers Electricals is celebrating after scooping two prestigious business awards. The firm, based in Heanor,

Derbyshire, was named Small Business of the Year at the Derby Telegraph’s recent 2017 Business Awards. It also won the Excellence in Manufacturing award. One of the UK’s largest

manufacturers of energy saving power and distribution transformers,

the family-owned firm was founded in 1947 as an electric motor and transformer rewinding business. It has moved into the supply of new and refurbished transformers, HV and LV switchgear and a range of associated products and services. Still managed day-to-day by the

family that set it up, Bowers Electricals is now part of the Bowers Group of Companies, which has a turnover of more than £13m a year and employs 80 people.

The firm picked up the awards at

a ceremony at the Roundhouse, in Derby, hosted by comedian and TV host Mark Dolan and Olympics silver medallist badminton star Gail Emms MBE. Managing Director, Michael

Bowers, said: “It is a huge accolade for the business to win two awards. The awards are a testament to the hard work all our team have put in over the past year.”

PR agency shortlisted for industry awards

based in Nottingham city centre, has been shortlisted for Low Budget Campaign as well as Public Sector Campaign for its work with John Pye Property Auctions and West Lindsey District Council. The industry-led awards

recognise the best communications and PR professionals across the UK as well as the high level of creative work being delivered across the Midlands region. Managing Director, Liz

Cartwright, said: “We are really excited and extremely honoured to have been selected as finalists for two awards at this year’s PRCA Dare Awards. “The campaigns we
