CHAMBER NEWS Trade mission is good for the health

The Chamber’s Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) team is inviting East Midlands-based healthcare businesses to join a trade mission to the MEDICA trade fair in Dusseldorf, Germany. MEDICA has been around for

over 40 years, quickly establishing itself as a prominent fixture in the diaries of healthcare professionals and businesses. The trade fair has grown year-on-year and hosted more than 5,100 exhibitors from 70 countries in 17 halls in 2016, cementing its place as the world’s largest event for the medical industry. The event attracts a diverse list of

exhibitors covering all aspects of the medical and healthcare sectors, including equipment, diagnostics, communications, physiotherapy and consumer goods. There is also a comprehensive timetable of conferences and forums, giving delegates the opportunity to both hear from the industry’s most influential figures, and find out about the latest trends and innovations. EEN has developed a tailored

programme to help companies make the most of their visit to MEDICA. The mission will incorporate a business matchmaking event where

MEDICA hosted more than 5,100 exhibitors from 70 countries in 2016

delegates attend arranged meetings with like-minded potential business partners, giving them the opportunity to showcase their business offering to those companies with which they want to connect. Matchmaking events have

historically proved extremely successful at MEDICA, with over 300 participants from around 30 countries and more than 1,000 meetings in recent years, with 96% of exhibitors expressing extreme

satisfaction with the business they achieved and the contacts they made at last year’s event. Businesses that travel with the Chamber benefit from an exclusive 50% discount on the cost of the entry fee to the MEDICA matchmaking event. Jan Immel, International

Programmes Manager at the Chamber, said: “We are delighted to offer this fantastic opportunity to visit the MEDICA trade fair. “The healthcare sector is

prominent in the region and we look forward to working with those businesses that are ready to internationalise.” The mission will begin on Monday

13 November with delegates flying to Dortmund from London Stansted. On arrival they will be transported to the designated hotel to check in, before heading to the Dortmund Chamber of Commerce for a briefing, arming them with everything they need to know about doing business in the region, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Tuesday and Wednesday will see

delegates travel to Dusseldorf, where the day will be spent entirely at the MEDICA trade fair and matchmaking meetings, topped off with a well-earned dinner on each day. Thursday is a little lighter paced, with an optional morning visit back to MEDICA, followed by lunch, before transfer back to Dortmund airport and a lunchtime flight back to the UK.

If you would like to join this trade mission, please contact Leila Nejmeddine, Business Adviser, Enterprise Europe Network, on eeninfo@emc-dnl.co.uk or 0333 320 0333.
