Tenancy deposits for properties with Leicester’s ‘LE’ postcode averaged £750.91 during the first quarter of 2017, according to The Deposit Protection Service’s (The DPS) quarterly Tenancy Deposit Ratings. Tenancy deposits are

usually among the most expensive costs when renters move into a new property, and The DPS’ figures show that those renting a home in the district between January and March this year had to pay on average £216.93 (22.41%) less than the national average during the same period (£967.84). Julian Foster, Managing

Director at The DPS, said: “Over the past ten years The DPS has protected almost five million deposits across England and Wales, and we’ve generally seen deposit sizes increasing during this time. “Tenants need to consider

that the deposit for their next property may be greater than the sum protected for their current residence and plan ahead so that they can make the house move they want to make without any financial barriers.” The DPS’ figures also

revealed the relative cost of renting locally compared to London, with ‘LE’ postcode properties averaging £1,080.23 (58.99%) less than those in the capital (£1,831.14).

Hotel plans offer a good night’s sleep for Tigers

Leicester Tigers has shared an update of its formal plans for the development of a new hotel complex to be built on the 1.7-acre Granby Hall car park site. and enhanced Leicester Tigers conference, corporate and supporter facilities. Welford Road already offers 35 suits and almost 3,500sq m of event space and is the largest venue of its kind in the East Midlands. Tigers Chief Executive, Simon Cohen, said: "I'm pleased to announce further news on the proposed

development of the Granby Halls car park site. Liaising with potential investors and the city council, we're close to reaching an agreement with a global hotel provider to operate a high quality hotel complex which will add an exciting dimension for fans, partners, businesses and Leicester. "As UK rugby's best-supported

club, sport continues to be a driving force in putting this city on the map and the fact that we will be able to

offer top-of-the-range accommodation will enhance the city's strong sporting profile.” Duncan Green, Managing Partner at Pick Everard,

said: “Building a high quality hotel at the Tigers will significantly strengthen its place as a major sporting, leisure and community destination. It's a great scheme that will create a new Leicester landmark and will continue the progression of high quality developments that are so important to the city.” Leicester Tigers is planning for the development of the site to be completed for the 2019/20 season.

Refurbishment meets demand for offices

Following an extensive refurbishment, high-quality offices in Nottinghamshire have come to the market with commercial property agency Innes England. The offices are located on the

sought-after Ruddington Fields Business Park. A new 5,700sq ft ground floor

suite is available to let in Ergo House, coupled with circa 5,000sq ft of existing quality space, after the block underwent a £1.4m refurbishment. Another existing prominent office space – offering an additional 5,500sq ft – in the adjacent Innovation House will also soon be available to let following further renovation. The lettings are being managed

by Laura Jardine, of commercial property consultancy Innes England.

58 business network July/August 2017 She said: “The refurbishment has

been completed to a very high standard and offers modern office accommodation in a fantastic location. It also provides excellent transport links, which is great for a company’s staff members. The lack of high-quality, Grade A office space within Nottinghamshire is well-documented, so the accommodation at both Ergo House and Innovation House are very attractive to potential occupiers.” Both offices have strong

transport connections, with a regular bus service running through Ruddington Fields Business Park, which is located seven miles south of Nottingham city centre. The property is also being

marketed with joint agent and fellow Chamber member FHP.
