A Derbyshire-based engineering firm has been awarded a gold medal from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for its commitment to health and safety. The prestigious accolade was


presented to the Greenbank Group at a ceremony to mark the fact that the company has achieved RoSPA’s Gold Award standard for six consecutive years. Managing Director, Charles


Conroy, said: “We continually strive to set the highest standards when it comes to health and safety as we recognise that our employees are our most valuable resource. “For this to be recognised by


such a well-respected organisation is particularly heartening and we are delighted to receive this gold medal.”


Total Motion named among London Stock Exchange’s top 1,000


Leicester-based Total Motion has been named among the top 1,000 companies to inspire Britain by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) for the second year running. It features in the LSEG 2017


annual report, which lists the UK’s most dynamic and high- growth-potential companies. Total Motion is the UK’s


largest family-run privately- owned leasing and fleet management provider. Managing Director, Simon Hill,

Athena recognised with national prize


Leicester-based venue Athena is celebrating after picking up silver at the inaugural Awards Awards. The awards celebrate the very


best in the awards industry. Over 300 guests attended the ceremony, hosted by impressionist and TV personality Jon Culshaw. Athena was the only venue


outside central London to be shortlisted in the best venue category. Since opening in 2005, Athena has established itself as a leading UK awards dinner venue.

Loughborough earns top grades from Ofsted


Loughborough College is celebrating its latest report from Ofsted – with the education watchdog recognising “high quality teaching” at the college and rating it ‘Good’ overall and ‘Outstanding’ for apprenticeships. On awarding the top grade for


Apprenticeships, Ofsted said the apprentices “exceed expectations and progress to higher-level apprenticeships, further training and education or sustained employment”. Leaders, managers and staff at


Loughborough College were described as “very successful in improving the progress of current learners” with “high-quality teaching” enabling “practical and written work of a high standard”. Learners and apprentices were


found to be “highly motivated” and developed “good personal, social and employability skills, making good progress in English and mathematics”. Sport study programmes and


apprenticeships at the college were particularly praised, “where managers have formed particularly strong links with national governing bodies”. Loughborough College Acting Principal, Colin Butler, said: “The Outstanding achieved for our apprenticeship programmes and the overall praise from Ofsted for the quality not only of our teaching and learning but also for the development, behaviour and welfare of our students is testament to our staff.

Derby-designed suspension bridge restoration honoured


Derby-based civil engineering consultants Inertia Consulting is celebrating after a project it designed for client Staffordshire County Council scooped the Institution of Civil Engineers West Midlands Heritage Award 2017. The Ferry Suspension Bridge restoration project


required complex bridge inspection, testing, capacity assessment and strengthening design on the weakened structure in Burton. The design, combined with the careful restoration,


ensures that construction work on the restored structure would be strong and durable so that it would last for future generations’ enjoyment. The commendation follows the awarding of the


Institution of Structural Engineers Midland Counties Award for Footbridges 2016 and Institution of Highway Engineers Mercia Region 2017 Judges Merit Award for the same project. Inertia Consulting’s portfolio of projects includes work on the Docklands Light Railway, Channel Tunnel
