ELSECAR
Life is Sweet at Emily’s
Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination indulgence next time you visit Elsecar Heritage Centre with a trip to Emily’s Traditional Sweets.
Making life that little bit sweeter, Emily’s is filled with hundreds of old fashioned sweets that let you step back in time and dip back into the magic of childhood again at the lick of a lollipop.
Recently taken over by Samantha and Paul, the pair have taken sunshine sprinkled rainbows and turned them into a confectionery paradise that’ll leave you in a sugary fuddle.
The walls are lined with jar upon jar of colourful delights from long- standing brands such as Kingsway, Barnetts, Maxons and Joseph Dobson.
Grab a pick ‘n mix of your favourite finds such as dolly mixture, chocolate mice and flying saucers.
Find your favourite flavour bon bons or savour the one you love with gob stoppers - although they might not be everlasting.
Dip your finger in a bag of kali or sherbet, or combine it with a mega lolly in flavours from marshmallow to traffic light. And if you really can’t make your mind up, you can’t go home without a quarter of traditional Yorkshire Mixture complete with hard boiled fish.
While you’re feeling reminiscent and bringing back memories of old, or creating new ones for the kids of today, have a look at their Nostalgia Jars filled with iconic sweets from the era you love. For the 80s kids, there’s parma violets, Mr Chews and even animal bars.
As Emily’s is in Elsecar by the Sea after all, they’ve even introduced a seaside novelty with Elsecar rock made by John Bull. A perfect reminder of your day at the village.
