JULY 2017: ISSUE 100 Alnwick Rotary Charity Golf Day

A team of golfers from our club, Ian Black, John Spittal, George McIntosh and trip organiser David Sandford attended the Alnwick Rotary Charity Golf Day on Thursday 15th June at the Alnwick Castle Golf Club. It was decided that some practice was needed prior to the event and David organi sed a round at Bruntsfield in Edinburgh on-route. A lovely course and very enjoyable golf. Prior to heading south we had our lunch in the spectacular clubhouse.

A night at the Hogs Head in Alnwick to rest prior to the competition followed by the Northumberland Breakfast unfortunately did not provide the winning formula. The good news is that our efforts supported a number of organisations including the Great North Air Ambulance and HospiceCare North Northumberland. We also had the opportunity catch- up with other Rotarians including our

friends from Alnwick. submitted by John Spittal

‘One Hundred Men and a Girl ‘(1937) is the only film with the word 'hundred' in its title that has ever received an Academy Award.
