Wonderland to come to Seale-Hayne this summer A


lice in Wonderland will be the theme at Hannahs at Seale-Hayne this summer. Some of the most famous illustrations in the world will be featured in the ‘Look-


ing in Wonderland’ exhibition (July 1-August 28) and there will be Alice themed events throughout July and August. Sir John Tenniel’s stunning illustrations for Lewis Carroll’s


two famous books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass include familiar images of Alice and her adventures with the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, March Hare, King and Queen of Hearts, Mock Turtle and Cheshire Cat. The Alice themed events will feature the


obligatory Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on several different occasions. Pocketwatch Theatre Company will be performing their own Mad Hatter’s Tea Party twice (July 1/16) with all the Wonderland characters in attendance. There will also be two Mad Hatter’s Arty Tea Parties (July 23/August 26) run by The Creation Station which will focus on creative family fun. For creative Alice in Wonderland fans there will also be


a variety of workshops run by Hannahs artists. They can make magical charm bracelets with Alison Meaker (July 9/ August 6) or join in Clare Harmer’s Illustrating Alice work- shop (July 22) and Introduction to Printmaking workshop (August 12). Moonstone Theatre will be presenting Malice in Won- derland (July 28), another of their popular comedy murder


mystery evenings in the Bistro. While enjoying a three course supper guests will have to work out who killed the Knave of Hearts. There will also be an open air theatre production of Alice through the Looking Glass (August 6) in which Quantum Theatre will bring its lively brand of comedy, music and magic to this timeless classic. (August 19) will be an Alice themed day of fun with live music, games, art activities, entertain- ment and a full blown Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with all the delicious teatime treats and all the main Alice in Wonderland characters taking part. Throughout the summer The White Rabbit’s Treasure


Hunt will keep children busy as they solve clues and riddles around the grounds of Seale-Hayne to earn a delicious treat. Everyone can enjoy Flamingo Croquet as experienced by Alice as well as the ‘Things are not quite what they seem’ exhibition by Hannahs Photography Group. Alongside all the events delicious Alice themed afternoon teas will be served in the Bistro throughout the summer.
