Fashion village
in the works Developers are to create a Staffordshire version of the popular Bicester Village discount fashion development in Oxfordshire. The Staffordshire scheme is Mill Green
Designer Outlet Village, which is planned to open in 2019 near Cannock. The £110m scheme was given the green light from Cannock Chase Council last year and developers U+I and Rioja Developments will be starting work on it by the end of this year. Now Chamber members are being given
the opportunity to find out first-hand what the scheme will be about, and how it will boost the local economy.

Businesses will be competing for the title of Solihull Business of the Year at the town’s Chamber of Commerce inaugural annual dinner and awards in October. The winning firm will be chosen from category
winners and be presented with the award in front of 250-plus guests at the Birmingham Metropole on 19 October. Solihull Chamber director Joan Smith said: “In
previous years we have celebrated Solihull businesses with the annual employee Awards. “However, this year the dinner and awards will
replace this flagship event. The idea is to celebrate not only individuals but businesses across the area. “I am very excited about our awards in October.
It will be our very first black tie awards and dinner for Solihull Chamber. It will be a great evening to celebrate the success of Solihull businesses.” Chamber president Kevin Johns added: “We
have moved to an evening event is response to demand. We hope to attract a bumper entry from the many outstanding and diverse businesses in the region. The new structure of the awards will produce the Solihull Business of the Year – the first time we have awarded such an important accolade.”
There are six awards available for businesses
to apply for: • Outstanding Contribution to Society • Outstanding Large Business of the Year • Outstanding Small Business of the Year • Outstanding Start-up Business of the Year • Outstanding Business Person of the Year • Outstanding Apprentice of the Year
The awards are being backed by One Design
& Print, who are sponsoring the Outstanding Start-up Business of the Year category. One Design & Print managing director Ian
Rogers said: “As proud members of the Solihull Chamber of Commerce it is very exciting to be associated with the first ever Solihull Chamber awards event and to support and encourage the start-up businesses within the region.” Applications for the start-up award are open
to Solihull businesses who have been trading for less than two years.
Members and non-members can buy tickets at an early bird price of £65 before 31 July. A range of sponsorship packages are also still available. To find out more, call 0121 607 1772 or email
