Wesleyan, the specialist financial services firm, has launched a new charitable foundation in partnership with Heart of England Community Foundation with an aim to give up to £1m a year to good causes. The Wesleyan Foundation hopes
to award around 100 grants in its first year and will enable its customers and members to decide which projects receive the most support, by nominating voluntary organisations important to them. shows that it takes a potential employer just nine seconds to make up their mind about a job applicant. Not being able to afford an
interview suit can be a huge barrier into employment. Suited for Success is a charity
based in Ladywood, Birmingham, providing high-quality interview clothes, styling and interview preparation skills for unemployed
men and women who have a confirmed job interview. Rebecca Cooke, partner and
community affairs lead for PwC in the Midlands, said: “As a key employer in Birmingham we are pleased that we can make a difference. Staff will also be donating time to Suited for Success to help people a prepare for interviews as part of our One Firm, One Day volunteering day.”
Wesleyan, it is partnering with Heart of England Community Foundation, who will administer the fund and distribute it to organisations across the UK. Wesleyan members will be able to
nominate voluntary organisations for consideration, as well as be given the opportunity throughout the year to vote on selected charities and grant recipients.
