astewater treatment services and solutions expert, Jacopa, needed to move away from its legacy IT sys-
tems. Within the UK regulated water industry, there is an ongoing focus on more effective and efficient services and Jacopa believed its business needed strong IT and processes behind it to deliver this. Understanding that ener- gy efficiency and providing robust, cost-effective solutions to environmen- tal issues were key drivers to its suc- cess, Jacopa set out in search of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution that could service its business both today and in the future. This need created a major business
challenge for Jacopa. The company required a single ERP solution that would not only fit its project manufac- turing and service business, but one that could be implemented within four

months while still preserving the high levels of service its customers had come to expect.
JACOPA’S CHALLENGE With its previous ERP and email host- ing solution owned by its parent organisation, Jacopa needed to act fast before it risked losing all the opera- tional data it held. In an industry as regulated as the UK water sector, it was essential it could find a solution that would ensure it was compliant, without any downtime. Additionally, the legacy platform it
was using was no longer fit for pur- pose, meaning the buy-out was the perfect opportunity for Jacopa to transform the way it operated, creating the perfect environment for growth. The company needed to find a
solution that could address all areas of its business, including purchasing, pro-
jects, finance and service from one place, while also handling managed services – something it didn’t previ- ously have access to. “An important aspect of our pro-
ductivity improvement is the connec- tivity of one business process with another,” Alex Lloyd, Managing Director of Jacopa, said. “Here the opportunity to innovate
around Enterprise Resource Planning systems that use workflow templates, connect business information across workflows, have remote input and ready access and use of data for user and management tasks and decision making will all play a part.”
