LATEST NEWS FROM IFS

When looking back at last year during the Christmas break, I was tempted to think that 2016 could well prove to be a pivotal year in the history of IFS. Most of the IFS team across the region can’t recall a time where we’d been so busy in the last quarter of the year.

Whilst we no longer publish results to the stock market, I’m happy to tell you that, both regionally and globally, the business continues to grow at a very healthy rate.

The Europe West region in particular had a very positive year with the UK, France and Spain all delivering strong results and welcoming many new customers to the IFS family – both through our direct business and that of our ever-growing partner network.

Whilst Q4 was noticeable for the rate and pace of our ‘normal’ business it also brought a major step in the company’s next chapter of growth with the acquisition of Canadian-based Mxi Technologies – a leading provider of integrated aviation maintenance software. You can read more about this on page 9 but, suffice to say, this is a strategic move to further our global leadership within the Aviation and Defence sector, and one which also provides us with a firm footprint in the commercial aviation business.

We welcome a well-established business and several hundred new team members directly into IFS. The newly created Commercial Aviation and Defence business unit will also incorporate the IFS Aviation and Defence (A&D) team that was formerly hosted

within IFS in the UK. Having completed the acquisition in January we will communicate further updates and progress during the coming months.

This year we will extend our ‘Taking Note’ customer feedback programme across the region by also involving customers from France, Spain and Portugal. Having benefitted from two years of running and refining the process in the UK and seeing the direct impact such a programme has on the way we deliver and improve the customer experience, we are keen to grow its potential with customers in these other countries. Equally though, we’re keen to continue the success we’ve seen in the UK and, accordingly, will be contacting you during the Spring for your input this year.

Finally, 2017 will mark an anniversary of some significance in our local history. 20 years ago a small group of us gathered in Linköping, Sweden to formalise the incorporation of Industrial and Financial Systems, IFS UK Ltd. It’s a great source of pride that there are quite a few of that initial group still within the company, and even more so that such a large number of the current IFS team have been with us for a vast part of the subsequent journey and are consequently able to recount many stories of customers and successful projects. As I say, we’re proud of what we have achieved and, whilst we fully expect the story to continue into many new chapters, we are planning to mark this particular milestone with a number of events during the year. Across these events we will also be trying to raise some money for our chosen charity and will be looking for some support from our customers and partners in this process. I hope that you will be able to help. Watch this space!

Thank you for your continued support. n

PAUL MASSEY, MANAGING DIRECTOR IFS EUROPE WEST
