By selecting IFS, Songa Offshore has chosen the leading vendor in the rig operator market, a vendor

with a proven track record. Songa Offshore as a company wouldn’t survive without being innovative. We’re happy that IFS shares this vision.

and an improved data foun- dation with new analysis and reporting possibilities. The company now holds a common view of mainte- nance and logistics. Another example of new advantages is the centralisa- tion of functions, such as in the central warehouse in Mongstad from where Songa Offshore can provide a cost-effective and high- quality service.

ESSENTIAL REPLICATION FUNCTIONALITY Another key functionality in IFS Applications is the replication module, which enables Songa Offshore to share, analyse and re-use information across its fleet efficiently, despite offshore communication challenges. High availability of the asset management system is extremely important to any drilling contractor, and the replication functionality

means that Songa Offshore can operate local rig instal- lation even when shore communication is unstable or down. “All rigs need to be able

to operate as a standalone location in order to provide maximum support to the drilling activities and improve the uptime on the ERP system,” says Sola Dirdal.

DIGITAL INNOVATION WITH IOT AHEAD Songa Offshore now focus- es on further efficiency and improvements of the ERP solution, through simplifi- cation and automation. The process-driven approach will focus on a company- wide delivery model, which will optimise how Songa Offshore works internally and with its suppliers. The integrated ERP

solution has provided Songa Offshore with a suitable

foundation for digital inno- vation. One project really stands out: the realisation of high-performance condi- tion-based and predictive maintenance with the help of IFS IoT Business Connector. Signals from sensors, for example attached on engines and pipes, will be collected and transferred into IFS Applications, where main- tenance initiatives are trig- gered and work orders gen- erated automatically. Sola Dirdal holds high

hopes. “When you operate advanced, complex, and fully integrated digital

assets, it would be extreme- ly workload-demanding to maintain these assets the conventional way. Instead, we want our intelligent equipment to tell us when it needs to be repaired,” he said. “The first phase of the project involves 600 assets on each rig, where mainte- nance will be triggered based on hours in use of an asset. Imagine collecting 600 asset readings and then registering these in mainte- nance system every hour manually on every rig – it says something about the potential improvement.” n
