FLOATING HOTELS FOR MILFORD A DEVELOPMENT which will see four

‘floating hotel suites’ sited at Milford Marina has been approved by Pembrokeshire County Council’s (PCC) Planning Committee. Described in a planning report as a ‘bespoke

adaptive design’, each suite will feature an external walkway and seating area and would be finished with ‘cedar timber cladding, having a glass balustrade surround within aluminium glazed window finishes’. Set to be attached to the harbour’s pontoon,

each hotel suite will cover 22 square meters and stand at 2.6 metres. The development, which was supported by

Milford Haven Town Council, will, according to PCC, ‘benefit the economy by providing work during its construction and create indirect employment to neighbouring services’. The plans were also said to ‘complement the existing services provided within the marina’. While planning documents proved

supportive, they did also highlight how the development will be situated within the Milford Haven Conservation Area. However, allaying this concern, the

document read: “With regard to environmental impacts, the nature of the development has been designed around its environment and would reuse rainwater for its services. The proposal would therefore have a positive environmental impact.” Natural Resources Wales were also

consulted about the application, and while confirming that the development is situated in a ‘C2 floodzone’, the risk of flooding was ‘predominantly tidal’.
