Firms pledge ‘no Brexit surcharge’

Juliet Dennis juliet.dennis@travelweekly.co.uk

Operators and hoteliers have issued guarantees to reassure the trade that prices will not be affected by Brexit, despite the slump in the value of sterling.

Trafalgar has launched a ‘no

surcharge guarantee’ for its 2016 and 2017 US and Canada holidays, while Viceroy Resort’s Sugar Beach in Saint Lucia in the Caribbean has introduced a ‘Brexit Basher’ guarantee for British travellers to combat exchange rate fluctuations. Explore has frozen the price of land-only trips until August and has pledged not to add a surcharge

slumped by 10% against the dollar. Chief executive Gavin Tollman

said: “We have made robust hedging arrangements to avoid surcharging post-Brexit, and we want to reassure the trade and public that Trafalgar is committed to delivering the same value we always have.” The operator has urged agents to

focus on the added extras included in its prices, such as transport and gourmet dining experiences, and is

The guarantee keeps prices at a pre-referendum rate of $1.45 to the pound, and covers all food and drinks, spa treatments, water sports and other resort- based activities. It is valid for bookings made between August 1
