Pure copper antifouling
M300 Antifouling from Meto & Co is predominantly made up of 99% pure copper, which is recognised as a powerful biocide agent. It is combined with a specific hybrid polyester resin that ensures the metal is securely adhered to the hull and the metal particles are bonded to each other. This antifouling is very efficient as the release of the copper ions alone interferes with the respiratory mechanisms of micro-organisms that try to attach themselves to the treated surface. The boats that have been treated

he Technical Center at Karpaz Gate Marina in North Cyprus has been praised for its recent
boatyard project to prepare the luxurious 43 m S/Y Daima for the season. This leading East Mediterranean marina is sharing a unique view of the haul-out and maintenance services carried out on the custom- built superyacht on its new YouTube video at
https://youtu.be/ MeSJ4Khs4nM. The motor sailer was the first yacht to be produced by Arkin Pruva Argos Yachts based in Antalya Free Port, Turkey, and blends the comfort of a classical Turkish Gulet with a modern hull and superstructure. Further enhancing the Five Gold Anchor marina’s reputation as a convenient and extensive dry dock facility to execute a wide scope of refit, repair and maintenance on yachts and superyachts, the S/Y Daima success is its latest notable project this year and has received positive feedback. Arkin Group Chairman Erbil
Arkin commented, “The size and capacity of the Karpaz Gate Marina boatyard facility and the quality of the equipment is very impressive, particularly the 300-ton capacity Ascom travel hoist. The boat was

hauled out on schedule in an efficient and attentive manner, the launch back went extremely smoothly and the boat was soon back in the water and ready for the Summer. We had complete trust in the experienced and accommodating Karpaz Gate Marina staff and in the security and safety of the boatyard and the whole marina”. An increasing number of
superyachts, yachts and boats are using Karpaz Gate Marina’s 18,000 sq m dry dock facilities for pre-season preparations or more extensive technical and specialist work. Many long-term clients berthing at the marina are taking advantage of the free full anti- fouling package, with haul-out and relaunch, hull pressure wash, free hard standing and two coats of anti-fouling application. Experienced staff are on site to
conduct and execute any scope of project, while the duty-free status at the marina provides extra benefits for clients with savings on spare parts, fuel, technical service and supplies. Regular technical work on offer at the boatyard includes hull cleaning and sanding, changing anodes, cleaning of shafts and anodes, plus the application of primer. Karpaz Gate Marina

over several years in addition to the tests carried out – especially those by Poseidon’s laboratory in the Tuticorin Bay in India, which is known for its very aggressive waters in terms of encrustation – show a lack of growth of living organisms, whether in salt or fresh waters. The M300 composite is extremely
strong and resistant: Barcol test results, ASTM D 2583 Standard = 90; pencil test results, ASTM D 3363 Standard = 6H; Taber abrasion test results, ASTM D 4060 Standard =
0.2% loss after 1000 revolutions. The Adhesion of the M300 is
extremely high due to its polyester bond and its low thickness (200 microns), which ensures flexibility, thus providing excellent resistance to impacts.
M300 antifouling is also eco-
friendly and does not scatter or disintegrate in water. It does not contain any biocide agent other than copper and its application improves sailing performance to reduce the overall ecological impact of the boats on which it is applied. The theoretical service life of M300 is a minimum of 25 years but the manufacturer recommends one coat every five years. Meto & Co

High pressure washer for boatyards
Said to be the world’s first ecologic high pressure washer with an embedded water treatment plant, the Model HPWT001 (patent pending) is now being offered by Yacht Garage Srl of Italy. The system can also be
employed to treat contaminated storm water after it has been collected from the surface of the boatyard. In fact, European standards state that all storm water must be treated within 48 hours from the cessation of rain. This is the first truly ecological
washing system as it avoids the consumption of water, thus protectng the environment whilst saving costs. The system can work in manual or fully automatic mode and enables 100% of waste water to be re-used. The system utilises a 240 bar
high pressure pump with 30 m high pressure pipe and different nozzles. After a boat, equipment or slipway
has been cleaned, waste water is collected via a submerged pump and cleaned with two different water treatment processes. The first one is a chemical-physical process and the second is a high pressure filtration process via two media filters with quartz sand and activated carbon filters. The treated water is immediately available for re-use during subsequent washing activities. The waste water treatment
process converts the pollutants into sludge that can be easily disposed of as hazardous waste. The process is able to remove many contaminants such as solids, suspended solids, oil, hydrocarbons, heavy metals, acids, etc. The washer is very compact as
the size is only 950 x 950 x 1200 mm and, being fitted with industrial grade castors at each corner, is easy to move. Yacht Garage Srl
