New chapter in history of Porto Montenegro Continuing its rapid evolution from local pioneer to regional benchmark in the yachting industry, the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club (PMYC) has expanded its off er for 2016 by incorporating Porto Montenegro’s Sports Club and Tennis Club into its structure alongside the iconic 64 metre outdoor pool and open air restaurant. Taken as one comprehensive

whole, with the eye-catching Richard Hywel Evans-designed building as the official clubhouse complete with a private Members’ Lounge designed by MHZ of Paris, PMYC immediately joins the ranks of the Mediterranean’s inner circle of elite yacht clubs. To mark this new chapter in

its history and to bring additional internal structure as the club enters a period of sustained growth, a seven- person Board has been appointed

Royal opening for Walcon pontoons On 21 April, the Princess Royal, Patron of the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, offi cially opened the Club’s new

pontoons. These encompass an area of 1500 sq m and provide berthing for up to ten yachts, 15 RIBs and 75 dinghies. They replace a previous installation that had reached the end of its lifespan and make more effi cient use of the available space. The basic infrastructure uses

Walcon’s System 21 floating pontoons. These are built using galvanised steel frames, fibre concrete floats and sustainable hardwood decking. As well as designing and building the pontoons, Walcon despatched its mobile piling barge, the Walcon Wizard, to the site early in January to remove the existing piles. Following this operation, maintenance dredging was carried out before Wizard returned to drive the new steel piles and install the pontoons. The entire installation took just six weeks and was completed by the end of February. The design creates three

independent zones each offering a high degree of protection from boat wash and other wave action.
